A revealing mask
I've always hated Halloween, Mardi Gras, and all that... Not even as a kid I'd feel OK when my parents forced me to dress up as a cop, thief, animal or any other shitty costume. I hated masks above all. Small eye slits through which I could only see a small part of the world around me, many times without a hole to breathe, leaving me to gasp for air in a second. But I would still wear many different "masks" throughout my life... I don't judge who can enjoy the whole thing. I can even appreciate the originality of a well-thought costume, especially when involved in some kind of satire, be it social or political. Or the sensuality of some costume choices. I can get behind getting loose for a bit, boost your self-confidence, sometimes transpiring sexuality. Ironically, we need a mask to be more authentic, and that's the problem, for me... I don't even know what crossed my mind to say "yes" this year. I'd turned it down, made up some excuses...
